The Division's three open events (the Fall Festival, the Hay
Fever Open and the Division Championship) are each designated NJ Cup events.
Also, each club is allowed to designate one sanctioned open event per weapon, per season as an NJ Cup event, but the event must
be held before the Division Championship. A club event must be designated as an NJ Cup event at the time it is added to the Division
schedule and the designation will appear in the listing on the Division s web site.
Once an event is designated as an NJ Cup event, it cannot become a mixed event.
So long as a designated
event is an E1 or better, participating fencers results will be available to be used in calculating the NJ Cup.
HOW ARE POINTS AWARDED?
Points will be awarded starting with 5 pts. for the sixteenth (or last place if fewer than 16 fencers) and increase 5 pts
for each preceding place. That means that first place at an event with less than 16 fencers will receive less points than first place
at an event with 16 or more fencers.
The Division Championship starts at 7.5 pts for the sixteenth place, (or last place if fewer
than 16 fencers), with 7.5 pts added for each preceding place.
Only fencers who are members of the NJ Division are eligible to earn
points, so no points will be awarded for any place occupied by a non-eligible fencer.
HOW ARE THE POINTS USED TO CALCULATE THE WINNERS?
For each weapon, each fencer s best two point awards from the Division events will be added to the best two point awards
from non-Division events and the fencers with the highest total points in a given weapon will be awarded the NJ Cup for that weapon.
This means that a fencer who does not participate in at least two division events and two non-division events will have a harder
time winning then someone who does.
