| Referee Seminar |
Due to the predicted snowstorm the Jeff Bukantz Referee Seminar at NJFA scheduled for Saturday 2/6 has been moved to Sunday
2/7. Seminar will begin at 8:00 am. SHARP.
The scheduled 2/7 practical exams will be postponed until a later date in the spring.
USFA Fencing Officials Commission referee seminars will be conducted by Jeff Bukantz February 6-7, 2010 at NJFA in Maplewood, and March 7, 2010 at Freehold Fencing in Freehold. Seminars and written tests will be held, and additionally there will be practical exams in the February session at NJFA. All referees, parents, coaches, and fencers are welcome. | SYC at Cobra | Cobra will be hosting the Super Youth Circuit 2010 event on February 26 to 28! Be sure to get entries in before the deadline of February 5. For registration and further information see the askFred entry. |

As many of you know, the NJ Division had scheduled its annual meeting for July 26 at
9:30 a.m. at American Fencing Alliance. The meeting was originally scheduled pursuant to our By-Laws: (a) to inform the membership of the current status of the Division, (b) to announce the exciting new competition calendar [which includes a local ROC National Qualifier], (c) to issue awards to the NJ Cup winners and (d) to turn over Division management to a new slate of Executive Committee members and officers. The Division was just informed that Steven Caputo and Cheryl Delaney (a representative of NJFA) have once again filed an emergent lawsuit to prevent the Division from turning over Division management to a new Executive Committee and slate of officers at the annual News Jersey Division meeting scheduled for July 26. The Division Executive Committee has voluntarily decided to adjourn the annual meeting until after September 1 to allow the Court to address the current legal action filed by Caputo/Delaney. At the rescheduled session, we will award the NJ Cups and attend to the other matters on the annual meeting agenda. In the meantime, the business affairs of the Division will continue to be managed by the current Officers, Executive Committee and Tournament Committee. Pursuant to an Order of the New Jersey Superior Court, Somerset County,
New Jersey in the case of Cheryl Delaney and Steven A. Caputo v. New
Jersey Division of the United States Fencing Association Inc. and Deborah
Bratsko, Defendants, Case No. Som-C-12067-08, the 2008 election of
officers, executives committee members, and members of the national
USFA Congress scheduled for July 27, 2008 was cancelled on July 25,
2008 and a new election was ordered by the court to be held on September 6
or 7, 2008. The Court has now found that the officers and executive
committee failed to comply with the Court Order dated July 26, 2008 by
failing to conduct the election in accordance with instructions given by the
Court and, as a result, the election scheduled for September 7, 2008 has
now been cancelled by the Court. The Court has appointed a Special
Master to oversee conduct of the new election. Copies of the Court Order
in this case dated July 25, 2008, September 3, 2008, and this Order, together
with any further Orders of the Court will be posted on the website.
